Roots Sessions: Channel One (UK) Playing on the Steel Yard Sound System

The Channel One Sound System crew are back again from the UK, this time they will be playing on the Steelyard Soundsystem out of Cleveland, Ohio! Te event will be held at the Tech 25 Warehouse in Mt Oliver, just above Pittsburgh's southside slopes neighborhood. 

Mikey Dread and Ras Sherby from Channel One came to Pittsburgh last year for a small meet and greet at GetHip Record store. 25 of us packed into the shop and were treated to a great performance. I promised I would bring them back here to play on a proper soundsystem and that time has come. The Steelyard Sound System is a hand-built soundsystem from Cleveland,Ohio. You won't believe how good it sounds and feels. The bass will bring you to another dimension when those roots reggae tunes come blasting through. 

We have a special guest opening the night up and he goes by BusCrates. He is one of Pittsburgh's best DJs and will be sure to get the party started right!

21+ to consume alcohol.
Food available for purchase. Provided by Pimento n' Wood, a local Jamaican food caterer.
Doors: 7pm, event 8pm. Come early and enjoy some food before dancing the night away.

"Channel One Sound System is one of the UK’s best known and most loved reggae sound systems.  Having taken over the running of their father’s sound in 1979, Mikey Dread and his brother Jah T took the sound to local blues parties and dances.  Mikey took the name Channel One as homage to the  legendary Channel One studio in Jamaica"

Ras Sherby will join Mikey Dread and will perform some of his own tunes and keep the vibe up with his nice voice and upful lyrics on the mic.

We are blessed to welcome them back to Pittsburgh after getting to experience an intimate performance with them in 2024 at Get Hip Record store. As promised, we are bringing them back on a proper sound system thanks to Tim from Steelyard Sound from Cleveland, Ohio.
