ABOUT GEAR LABS...
Gear Labs is a creative tech playground for teens who want to explore music, media, and live event production in a hands-on way. This free after-school program (Tuesdays & Thursdays, 3–5:30 PM) gives students access to real DJ gear, sound systems, production software, lighting equipment, and more.
Through weekly focus labs and mentorship from working professionals, students earn access badges and build confidence, skills, and creative projects. No experience required — just curiosity.
Gear Labs isn’t a lecture-style class — it’s a hands-on lab. Students learn by doing: setting up real sound systems, building beats, mixing on DJ decks, experimenting with lighting, filming, editing, and creating projects from day one. Instead of sitting through long presentations, participants jump into the gear, collaborate with peers, and develop creative projects in a supportive environment. The goal is simple — make things, try things, and learn through real-world experience.
NOTE: Participation in Gear Labs requires advance registration and completion of all required forms. Registration is accepted on a rolling basis, and there is no specific deadline to apply; however, space is limited and enrollment will close once capacity is reached. Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from Tech 25. For participants under 18, a parent or guardian must complete and sign all registration materials, waivers, and media release forms prior to attendance. No student may participate without fully completed documentation on file.
